When Group C Cars Ruled the Nordschleife

The World Touring Car Championship is going to race the complete Nürburgring in 2015, marking the 32th anniversary of an FIA World Championship racing at the track. This was it.

Formula One left the Nürburgring in 1976 - following the much-documented accident of Niki Lauda. Eventhough the track was rebuilt for 1984 - which saw a one-off introduction to sportscar racing to three-time World Champion Aytron Senna - endurance racing went on and raced the circuit even in the in-between period regardless.

Daunting as it was to throw a Group C prototype around the track through a thousand kilometres, the most exciting era of sportscar racing at one of the most challenging and dangerous racetracks in the world is something truly unique.
