Mathias Lauda - son of Niki Lauda - won his first NASCAR Whelen Euro Series win on Sunday's race 1 - at the rain-soaked, semi-permanent mini oval that is called Tours Speedway.

The Euro Series is a strange thing, but it is nevertheless exciting and it is a fine breakaway from the single-seater over-saturation on the continent.

Lauda is not the first open-wheeling royalty offspring to score a win in this particular stock car racing series, recently Eddie Cheever III got a P1 in the bag at Brands Hatch.

To fuel the romance to racing history, Mathias is set to appear in the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 race against Freddie Hunt in its following, winter season.
